A semiconductor recipe is hundreds of steps and interacting parameters, tuned by looping until results meet spec. It is a loop that forgets everything between teams and runs. BQNF operators, virtual metrology, and Chip Fingerprints could give that loop a persistent memory of its own, carrying what worked from one run to the next. These are pilot goals: proposals we validate against measured baselines before claiming them.

The Field
An IoT that maintains itself.
The IoT is billions of sensors and edge devices. Photonic edge chips already show inference at nanosecond speeds and femtojoule energies, but the edge is harsh: temperature swings, aging hardware, and no engineer on site. Devices with Drift Sense and Light Memory hold calibration in the field, report their own health, and inherit each other's experience, so a fleet grows steadier as it ages instead of coming apart.
